Exclusive: Rick Ross Cancels Performance In Africa

Superstar rapper Rick Ross has been forced to cancel a high-profile appearance in Nigeria, Africa.

Rick Ross was supposed to perform during the Cross River State Calabar Christmas Festival, on December 28.

Although Rick Ross was forced to scrap several shows in October due to a pair of seizures, the rapper’s reps denied his health was the reason behind the latest cancellation.

Ross’ reps told AllHipHop.com that the Nigerian show has been cancelled due to “unfulfilled contractual obligations.”

“Rick was very excited to attend this event as it is the biggest festival in Nigeria and he is quite disappointed that he will not be performing,” a rep for Rick Ross told AllHipHop.com.

The Cross Rivers State Christmas Festival is a 32-day event in Calabar, Nigeria and is the biggest “carinval” celebration in all of West Africa.

Other performers during the festival included Sean Kingston, Psquare, Banky W, Wizkid, OJB Jezreel, and Comedian Julius Agwu.

Nelly Sued By American Express for Unpaid Credit Card Bill

TMZ reports that American Express has filed a lawsuit against rapper, Nelly, to obtain money he owes them on a credit card.

According to TMZ the suit, which was filed back in October in Missouri, says that Nelly failed to pay $20, 403.64, plus they are asking for an additional $3000 for lawyer fees. The court hearing is scheduled for January 9th.

Exclusive: Zoe Pound’s Mac A Zoe Talks Prison Sentence; Weighs In On Miami Rap Scene

Imprisoned Zoe Pound rap group leader Mac A Zoe recently checked in with AllHipHop.com and gave an update on his prison sentence and to let all the fans know about his situation. Although he’s serving a life sentence for his alleged involvement in an attempted murder, Mac A Zoe believes he could be freed as early as 2012. “Right now everything is looking beautiful, its in the courts right now, in gods hands,” Mac A Zoe told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive interview. “Everything is in favor of me , its just the matter of a day, the way i see it. They just dragging it out right now knowing there going to have to turn me loose. Their trying to get every day out of me. Hopefully by 2012 I should be out, on the other side of these bars.” Mac A Zoe was featured in an episode of American Gangster and is allegedly one of the leaders of the feared Haitian Zoe Pound gang. He is also associated with rap label Zoe Pound Entertainment, whose main artist Red Eyezz has recorded with artists like Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Pitbull, Bun B. and others. Although he is behind bars, Mac A Zoe is keeping a close watch on the latest information about Miami’s Hip-Hop community. Mac A Zoe commented on a recent article in the Miami New Times written by Uncle Luke, where the legendary rapper criticized out of town artists who have taken up residence in Miami, but have allegedly not given enough back to the local communities. Luke called out famous residents like Sean “Diddy” Combs, DJ Khaled and Lil Wayne, in the article.

Multiple figures replied, including Lil Wayne, who took offense to the comments, while DJ Khaled hosted Luke on his radio show shortly after the article was published, where the two men discussed the issue. Mac A Zoe stood by Uncle Luke’s statements. “I have to agree with Luke , not trying to knock nobody, but why not help the community, why not give back,?” Mac A Zoe asked. “That’s whats wrong with alot of brothers. Greed is always going to be their downfall.” Mac blamed the fierce competition to get rich, as the main reason most artists do not give back nowadays. “Everyone is trying to get richer then the next man, you might have this nigga watching this nigga pockets. ‘Oh this nigga got $500 million , if I got to fuck over my artists to get to where this nigga at that’s what I’m going to do. DJ Premier, Nas and The Berklee Symphony Orchestra Participate in Hyundai Re:GENERATION Project

Recently Vibe magazine linked up with DJ Premier, Nas, and The Berklee Symphony Orchestra as a part of Hyundai’s RE:GENERATION project. As part of the project, “Primo” was given classical music and met with former classical music professor at Juilliard, Bruce Adolphe. Setting out to study classical music theory, and the inspirations of some of the genre’s famous composers, the eventual product is a legendary track with Premier, Nas and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra. After learning about classical music and its composers, DJ Premier purchased records of classical symphonies on vinyl and chopped them up to make a song of his own. RE:GENERATION then had DJ Premier partner with Stephen Webber, a professor and conductor at the Berklee College of Music. Teaching Premier how to conduct in studio, Webber helped the DJ and production legend lead a 58-piece Berklee Symphony Orchestra. Nas later laid out a verse on the epic track which is featured in the video below. Presented by Hyundai Veloster, RE:GENERATION is a documentary film that follows DJ Premier, Pretty Lights, The Crystal Method, Mark Ronson, and Skrillex as they remix, recreate and re-imagine five traditional styles of music.

Exclusive: Lil Wayne, Birdman Hit With Third Lawsuit In One Week

appers Lil Wayne and Bryan "Birdman" Willams have been hit with their third lawsuit this week, as music publishing company to Bridgeport Music filed a lawsuit against the pair yesterday (June 10th).

Bridgeport Music filed the lawsuit against Cash Money Records in the Central District of California Western division yesterday.

The copyright infringement lawsuit claims Birdman illegally sampled the song "You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks," a tune by Funkadelic off their classic 1971 album Maggot Brain.

The pair allegedly illegally used the sample on the track "Army Gunz," taken from Birdman's 2006 album Like Father, Like Son.

Bridgeport's action is the third lawsuit brought against Lil Wayne, Cash Money and Young Money this week alone.

On June 9th producers Play-N-Skillz sued Lil Wayne for $1 million over unpaid royalties related to the track "Got Money" from his hit album Tha Carter III.

Last Friday (June 3rd), Lil Wayne was hit with a $1.5 million dollar lawsuit by producer David Kirkwood, who claims he's owed unpaid royalties from Lil Wayne's label Young Money, as well as Cash Money Records.

In March, Lil Wayne was sued for $20 million by producer Darius "Deezle" Harrison over unpaid royalties for his work while Tha Carter III.

Producer Bangladesh also sued over Tha Carter III, seeking his portion of royalties for his production work on the album.

Lil Wayne is currently preparing for the release of Tha Carter IV, which will be released in August.

Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ Gets Official Release Date

Rumors circulated earlier in the week that Weezy’s anticipated disc Tha Carter IV had been pushed back from its original May 17th date. Now Young Money President Mack Maine has confirmed to XXL that the album now has a confirmed release date and will hit stores on June 21st.

Game Detained at Canadian Border, Possibly for 14 Days

Early on Wednesday morning (April 20), West Coast rapper Game was in good spirits as he tweeted "Happy 420" to fans and announced that he was en route to Canada to perform shows. But things quickly turned sour when he ran into trouble at the Canadian border.

Game immediately began tweeting about the incident, revealing that he had been held at the border for over three hours and was still not allowed to enter the country. "Customs officials just denied me entry into Canada," Game wrote. "I'm sorry 2 ALL my fans but I was mislead by promoters & assured I would be able 2 enter."

The news only got worse as Game continued to provide details over Twitter about his predicament. "This just in: I'm being detained in Canada for 14 days until they process my inadmissability then I'll have a hearing heard by a judge," he tweeted. "At that point the judge will decide to either deport me or give me a sentence for violating Canada's immigrant entry laws."

"F---ed up situation !!! But at least they let me call home, & tweet before they lock a n!gga up !!! Gotta turn in my property, y'all be kool," he continued. His final tweet revealed that he was forced to hand over personal items, including his cell phone, which likely means no more tweeting. "Gotta give up my phone & property. This some straight bulls--- ! Flew all the way from LA to be denied and detained ?!?! WTF [sic]."

However, the Canadian Border Services Agency described a different chain of events, though the agency is not permitted to give details behind the detainment.

"While the Privacy Act prevents me from discussing the specifics of an individual case, I can tell you that (Game's) information is not consistent with ours," Patrizia Giolti, a CBSA national spokesperson, told XXLMag.com. "In addition, when a foreign national is detained, they must have a detention review hearing before the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) within 48 hours of their detention."

The Game was scheduled to perform a series of concerts in Canada over the weekend, including a Saturday April 23 show in Toronto. His fourth LP 'The R.E.D. Album' is currently set for a summer release.

Soulja Boy Working On 'Juice' Mini-Movie

Atlanta rapper Soulja Boy is planning to drop a mini-movie to go along with his recently released mixtape, titled Juice.

The Juice mixtape, which hit the Internet on April 20th, features guest appearances by Roscoe Dash, Diamond, J. Money, Lil B., Tonio, Calico Jones, 2 Chains and Kwony Cash.

Soulja Boy said the inspiration behind the mixtape came as he watched the classic 1992 movie "Juice," which starred Tupac Shakur, Omar Epps, Jermaine "Huggy" Hopkins and Khalil Kain.

"I was in LA a couple of months ago and I was watching the 'Juice' movie and I was like 'Damn bro! Tupac, extra turned up in that movie!' I was just doing my One Up Mixtape, so I was like 'I’m gonna call my next mixtape 'Juice,'" Soulja Boy told AllHipHop.com.

According to Soulja Boy, he is finishing up a mini-movie for the album that he hopes to premiere on BET later this year.

"My close friend and I was like 'man I want to do a mini-movie' and so we got the budget together," Soulja Boy told AllHipHop.com. "We were in pre-production and people reached out and wanted to be a part of the movie."

The Juice mini-movie, which recently started filming in Atlanta.

The 45-minute film will be directed by Dale "Rage" Resteghini, who shot the video for Soulja Boy's "Kiss Me Through the Phone."

Rage has also directed videos for Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Jim Jones, Guns-N-Roses, Fall Out Boy and others.

"BET is going to premiere it and its going to come with like three music videos off of the mixtape," Soulja Boy told AllHipHop.com. "It's going to be a movie that I want people to check it out."

50 Cent's Slave Roots Explored In 'The Origin of Me'

A new VH1 Rock Doc featuring rapper 50 Cent is scheduled to debut next month that features the rapper in search of his family's past.

The documentary "50 Cent: The Origin of Me" will feature 50 Cent traveling to Edgefield, South Carolina, where he traces his family's lineage.

The rapper uses local genealogists and census data, which helps him discover more information on his great, great, great grandmother, Jane Jenkins.

The documentary reveals that Ms. Jenkins lived as a slave until the mid-1800's.

During "50 Cent: The Origin of Me," 50 also finds out his former ancestors fought the "Redshirts," who were the precursors to the Ku Klux Klan.

50 Cent's Rock Doc "50 Cent: The Origin of Me" will debut on Monday (May 23) at 9:00PM.

Swizz Beatz' Twitter account was briefly hijacked on Sunday (January 22nd) when mischievous pranksters gained access to his account. The unknown individual spared the producer of any real damage to the account and Swizz regained control of his account in minutes. Rapper Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 has announced a multi-state tour throughout the Western part of the United States in support of his latest album Fish Market 2. The mini-tour will kick off February 12th in San Francisco, California and wind down February 19th in Denver, Colorado. Wiz Khalifa celebrates a personal victory as the Pittsburgh Steelers head to the Super Bowl after a crushing defeat of the New York Jets.

As expected, Khalifa, a native of Pittsburgh, performed his hit record "Black and Yellow" for the home team.

He said he would celebrate in his own special way.

Police Raid Juelz Santana's Studio, Find Guns and Weed

A member of Juelz Santana's Skull Gang group was arrested and charged with with drug possession after a raid of the rapper's North New Jersey recording studio, according to prosecutors.

Police arrested Toby M. Raynor on Thursday (January 20th), after a 10-month undercover investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutors Office and Gang Unit.

Raynor, who raps under the name "Hynief" was charged with two counts of Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance.

On two accounts in the Summer in June and July, Hynief sold an undisclosed amount of marijuana to two undercover officers with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Gang Unit.

Police raided Juelz' studio, where they found and arrested Raynor.

Additionally, officers found two fully loaded 9mm handguns in the studio, along with several boxes of ammunition.

Police also found 17 zip lock bags, each containing "a greenish brown vegetation," which police believe to be high grade marijuana.

The Honorable Judge Louis Dinice set bail for Raynor at $50,000 with no 10% option.

Raynor was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of Bail.

The arrest caused Juelz to miss a show in Chicago on Friday (January 21st) with rapper Twista.

The Dipset member issued an apology to friends via Twitter, revealing that Raynor has made bail.

"A! If it ant 1 thing it's another smh sorry to all the people in chi-town that came out last night I couldn't make It!! Trouble wit the law," Juelz tweeted yesterday morning (January 22nd).

The fans eventually won the frenzy cause Minaj to send out another tweet.

“So the hotel made me walk out the “back” door and guess what? Paparazzi and Barbz… Lol. Ima need that hotel to sit. U aint stoppn nuthn.”

Gucci Mane Links With Britney Spears

Gucci Mane has revealed that he's going to be rapping in a new song named "Hit" by the pop superstar, according to RumorFix.

Gucci Mane told the site that he'll meet with Spears at Mizay Entertainment to record together.

The Georgia rapper, who recently got an ice cream cone tattooed on his face, said he and Britney share some similar qualities.

"Britney's so icy. I'm going to make her go 'brrr,' he said in his trademark drawl.

Aside from her icy qualities, Gucci said that Britney was "raw and exciting. She's crazy. We like to get down like that."

Mobb Deep's Prodigy Gets Prison Release Date

Incarcerated Mobb Deep group member Prodigy will be a free man this March, when the rapper is released from prison, after serving a three-year sentence for gun possession.

Mobb Deep's Havoc dropped the date during an appearance on Statik Selektah's 'Show Off Radio' radio show on Shade 45 last night (January 20th).

Prodigy's official release date from the Mid-State Correctional Facility in New Jersey is March 7th.

Prodigy was one of the first high-profile celebrities to be sentenced to a stiff jail sentence under New York's gun laws.

The 3 1/2 year prison sentenced stemmed from from an October of 2006 arrest, after police found a loaded handgun in a bulletproof SUV he was driving with passenger/producer The Alchemist.

As soon as he is released, Prodigy will begin to record new material, in addition to promoting his upcoming autobiography, My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, which is due in stores on April 19th.

The Department of Natural Resources in Michigan were called out the Eminem's Clinton Township property in Michigan on Wednesday morning (January 19th).

Officials from the department were called out to the rapper's residence, after a deer wandered on to the property and became impaled on a fence.

The alarms in Eminem's mansion went off, in response to a possible intruder on the gated property.

When no one was found, the incident was labeled a false alarm.

But later in the day, the deer was found hanging from a fence on the property, with its leg caught on one of the spiked tips.

Officials took the deer and will donate the meat to needy families.

The incident involving Eminem comes just a month after two men broke into 50 Cent's mansion in Connecticut.

One man was found in the closet, while his accomplice was found wandering in another section of 50's huge, 52-room mansion.

Kanye West Headlining Coachella 2011

For the second year in row a major hip-hop artist will headline the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Fesitval, set for April 15-17 in Indio, Calif. Kanye West joins Arcade Fire and Kings of Leon at the top of the Coachella 2011 bill.

West will close out the 3-day festival on Sunday, by far the heaviest hip-hop day of the event with acts like Wiz Khalifa, Nas & Damian Marley and Tinie Tempah also scheduled to play. Lauryn Hill (billed as Ms. Lauryn Hill) and Cee Lo Green will rep the genre on Friday, while Erykah Badu, Raphael Saadiq and Lil' B will add some more soul on Saturday.

Last year, Jay-Z headlined the usually DJ-saturated festival and brought Beyonce onstage for a duet on 'Forever Young,' and De La Soul assisted the Gorillaz during their set. West is a wild pick considering his U.S. festival performances are regularly plagued with problems. He stopped midway through his 2007 Lollapalooza set to complain about sound issues and was booed at Bonnaroo 2008 after starting his performance more than three hours late after switching his set to the main stage. Hopefully West, who released his fifth studio album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' in November, will have more luck at Coachella 2011.

Drake Cites Winnie The Pooh As Inspiration On Sophomore LP

Drake is looking to a surprising muse while recording his sophomore LP. The Toronto rapper recently spoke on how his childhood favorite Winnie the Pooh has been a key inspiration while conceptualizing his second album 'Take Care,' and that during his recent U.K. tour stop he spent a heft amount of money on the first four books in the series.

"I bought the first-ever Winnie the Pooh books, like all four Winnie the Pooh books," he told DJ Semtex. "It cost me a lot of pounds, man. I probably could have bought a small car for that."

The Young Money rapper also explained that even though "Winnie the Pooh is like super not hip-hop," it has always been a part of his life. "They were a huge part of my childhood," he said. "That's my influence, man. Winnie the Pooh on this next album."

He also explained that while his platinum debut 'Thank Me Later' was hailed as one of last year's best albums, he wasn't so content with the final product. "Thank Me Later' was a rushed album. I didn't get to take the time that I wanted to on that record. I rushed a lot of the songs, and sonically, I didn't get to sit with the record and say, 'OK, well maybe I should change this verse,'" he said. "Once it was done, it was done. That's why my new album is called 'Take Care 'cause I get to take my time this go-round."

The 'Fancy' rapper, who is currently on tour in Europe with J. Cole, is expected to release 'Take Care' later this year. The album is set to feature production from 9th Wonder and Boi-1da.

Nas, Damian Marley Heading To 11 Countries On New 'Distant Relatives' Tour

Rapper Nas and Damian "JR Gong" Marley will launch an international tour next month, in support of their critically acclaimed album Distant Relatives.

The tour will kick off in Hawaii on February 9th and will hit 11 countries over 22-dates, with the final show concluding in Lisbon, Portugal.

The news of the latest leg of their "Distant Relatives Tour" comes as Nas and Damian prepare to release a series of new music videos, remixes and vignettes.

The pair are preparing to release new videos for the songs "Land of Promise," "Nah Mean" and "Patience," while a variety of remixed tracks are available at their official site, www.distantrelatives.com.

Kanye West has taken to Twitter to chastise the media for fueling a "fake Twitter" war with Britney Spears and spreading other rumors about him that he says aren't true.

The revered Chicago rapper/producer lashed out over reporting on a series of tweets he sent to Britney Spears last week, "congratulating her" on being #1, by claiming that his record "H.A.M." with Jay-Z was the "greatest record of all time."

West, who really was congratulating Spears and Avril Lavigne on the success of their latest singles, did so, by mocking his infamous incident in 2009 at the VMA's with Taylor Swift.

Late last night (January 17th), Kanye snapped on the media over their portrayal of the embattled rap star.

“Just saw that MSNBC said I tried to start a twitter war with Brittany. This sh*t takes the air out my lungs sometimes from blogs to news reports… enough already!!! All I do is focus on my work.There’s a new lie everyday… a new media spin…"

Kanye also explained away recent reports that claimed he purchased a $180,000 gold, diamond encrusted watch from Tiret.

"I never got a watch with my face on it!!! A company tried to give that to me 9 yrs ago!," Kanye West said, before labeling himself one of the most "considering people in real life."

"Maybe over considerate. Over caring. Overly real. There is no astronaut training for celebrity… even though this whole life is so outer space!" Kanye tweeted. "I was actually surprised that a record as raw as H*A*M could make it to #2 on Itunes. How can u “let” someone be number one??!! That was the whole joke!!! T-Pain Heading To Lil Wayne's Young Money Label

It appears Lil Wayne's Young Money Records has added more fire power to its formidable roster, with the signing of Tallahassee, Florida rapper/singer/producer, T-Pain.

According to Cash Money/Young Money's official jeweler, Gabriel Jacobs of Rafaello & Co, he recently completed a new, purple and black, oversized, diamond and ruby encrusted Young Money pendant for T-Pain.

In an exclusive clip on VladTv.com, Jacobs showcased T-Pain's latest piece of jewelry, which has over 200 karats in rubies and 300 karats in diamonds, also had T-Pain's Nappy Boy logo embossed around the edges.

The pendant by itself is worth $45,000 and when worn with the ruby/diamond encrusted chain, T-Pain will be walking around with about $100,000 worth of jewelry around his neck.

T-Pain was originally signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik imprint. He released his last three albums including his last release, Thr33 Ringz, via Jive/Zomba.
