Lil' Wayne blogs about prison life

ailed rapper Lil' Wayne has given an insight to life in Rikers Island - and makes it sound fun and relaxing.

Wayne, who is serving a one-year sentence in the notorious New York jail for having a loaded gun on his tour bus, posted a blog describing his average day.

But rather than fear and punishment, he recounts an idyllic sounding schedule of coffee, reading, hitting the gym and watching TV.

He wrote: "I wake up around 11am. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Push-ups.

"Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the Bible, then sleep. That's my day."

The 27-year-old New Orleans rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, also indicated he's keeping up with what's happening in the music world.

He gave shout-outs to his Young Money Entertainment artists, Drake and Nicki Minaj.

"Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success," he wrote. "Those two are going to have me retiring early."

Fans hungry for more Lil' Wayne music are in luck. His manager, Cortez Bryant, recently told Vibe Magazine the album I'm Not A Human Being will be released digitally around 27 September - Wayne's birthday.

The rapper has more than 100 days left to serve of his sentence and is paying close attention to the calendar.

"Counting the days and still smiling," he wrote in his fourth letter released from Rikers.

"Most of those smiles come from hearing my kids' voices over the phone. The others come from reading fan mail. Let me just say that I have the best fans in the world!"

Eminem creeped out by death fears

Rapper Eminem has revealed that his shock over the death of ex-love Brittany Murphy has left him terrified of dying.

The hip-hop star, who had a fling with Murphy when they starred together in movie 8 Mile, said he found the her death "crazy".

"It's crazy, because at one point, we were very close, and she [Murphy] was a really good person," he told Vibe magazine.

But he also said it brought into harsh reality the dangers of celebrities having easy access to pills.

The chart-topping star said: "It's crazy when you see things not just with her, but just all these things that are happening in Hollywood with people in music, with people in acting.

"Famous people are overdosing at alarming rates...”

He also revealed that his own brush with death - when he was rushed to hospital with pneumonia in 2008 - has made him obsessed about dying.

"I think about it a lot," he said.

"I try not to think about it, but I do and it creeps me the f*** out.

"It creeps me out because they say that if I got to the hospital two hours later, then I would be gone. I think about that a lot..."
